Level 3

AI-made, human-checked

AI produced most of it. A person read it, fixed it and stands behind the result.

Pick this level when

  • An AI tool wrote the draft and you edited it line by line.
  • You generated an image and corrected it by hand before publishing.
  • AI wrote the code and you reviewed and tested every part.
  • Product texts were generated and an editor checked each one.

Checked means checked

This level promises a reader that a person looked at every part. Facts were checked, mistakes fixed, nothing went out that the person would not sign. If that is not true for a piece, use AI-generated instead.

What the EU AI Act says

Under article 50(4), AI-generated text published to inform the public on matters of public interest must be disclosed, unless it went through human review or editorial control and a person or company holds editorial responsibility. So this level can describe text the law no longer asks you to label. Images, audio and video that look real are different: deepfakes must be labelled even after human editing. The EU's AI icons are free to use for that.

Questions

Is "human-checked" a legal term?

No. The AI Act talks about human review or editorial control plus editorial responsibility. The badge describes what you did; it does not replace what a law asks of you.

Can I use this level for AI images?

Yes, if a person checked and fixed the image. If the image looks like a real person, place or event, EU rules may ask for a label on the image itself as well.
