Level 2

AI-assisted

A person made it and is in charge. AI helped with research, editing, translation or ideas.

Pick this level when

  • You wrote the text yourself and an AI tool checked grammar or suggested better phrasing.
  • AI helped you find sources, summarise papers or brainstorm, and you did the writing.
  • You translated with an AI tool and corrected the result.
  • You coded with AI autocomplete or asked an assistant to explain an error.

The level most people need

Most writing, design and code today is made like this. Saying so plainly costs you nothing and answers the question your readers already have. Add what AI did to the pill ("· editing", "· research") or list it in the Facts label.

Does the law ask for it?

For most AI-assisted work, no law asks for a label. The EU AI Act's disclosure duty for text applies to AI-generated text published to inform the public on matters of public interest, and not when a person reviewed it and someone holds editorial responsibility. Images, audio and video that look real and were changed by AI are a different matter: see the article 50 guide.

Questions

Should I say which AI tool I used?

You can. The pill takes a short note on what AI did; the statement generator writes a full sentence with the tool names.

Is AI-assisted enough for a school or university?

Your school decides that. Most ask for a written statement that names the tool and what it did. Use the statement generator and add the badge if you like.
